INDIA, Kushan Empire, Kanishka II or Kanishka III, (c.A.D. 267-270), gold dinar, 21mm, (7.78 g), struck at the main mint in Taxila, obv. legend around, Kanishka standing left, holding filleted standard, sacrificing over altar to left, filleted trident to left, 'ga' in Brahmi to right of altar, 'gho' in Brahmi between legs, 'hu' in Brahmi to right of sceptre, rev. Oh?O to right, Ithyphallic Siva standing facing, holding a garland or diadem and trident; behind, the bull Nandi standing left, to upper left, pellet above tamgha, (Gobl 634.6, M.3503, ANS Kushan 1644; Donum Burns -). Extremely fine, and very scarce.
