1893 PROOF HALF CROWN, Victoria, 1837-1901. S-3938, ESC-2779, Davies 663 (Dies 2 B) (S). 14.10g. Edge straight-grained. Reverse - A crowned spade-shaped Royal shield of Arms with Order of the Garter suspending a miniature St George and the Dragon pendant. The ribboned shield partly obscures the Collar of the Order of the Garter, whose design is taken from the 1887 half-crown. Outside this is a decorative beaded circle above which is the legend . FID . DEF . IND . IMP . The base reads HALF 18 (pendant) 93 CROWN. Attractive iridescent brilliance, FDC and scarce.
