GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, issued 240-3, Rome Mint, obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. Sol standing to left, holding globe and raising hand, around AETERNITATI AVG, S C across, (S.8702, RIC 297a, C.43). Green earthen patina, extremely fine/nearly extremely fine and scarce.
