PHILIP I, (A.D. 244-249), silver antoninianus, Rome Mint, (3.86 g), 1st officina, issued 248, obv. radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip to right, around IMP PHILIPPVS AVG, rev. lion walking to right, officina mark I in exergue, around SAECVLARES AVGG, (S.8956, RIC 12, RSC 173, Hunter 44). Toned, peripheral golden patination, struck on a full flan, nearly extremely fine.

This type commemorates the celebration in 248 A.D. of the 1000th anniversary of Rome's founding.
