EARLY ANGLO-SAXON PERIOD, Frisian (Continental) silver sceatta, c.695-740 A.D., series E (tertiary phase) - variety B 'Frankener' type, (0.83 g), obv. quilled crescent coiled right enclosing three bars and a pellet, beaded outline above, rev. degenerate beaded standard enclosing central pellet in annulet, long cross right, pellets and angular symbol, tufas in margins, (S.790C, Metcalf 216-19, N 45, BMC 4). Sharply struck and toned, good very fine or better.
