THRACE, Island off Thrace, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.564 grams), obv. small head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Herakles naked standing to left, holding club, lion skin over left arm, to right **HRAKLEOUS*, to left **SWTHROS, below **QASIWN, MHP monogram to left, (cf.S.1759, SNG Cop. 1046-8). Good metal, cut in centre of reverse, otherwise very fine.
