OBE GROUP OF EIGHT: The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, type 2 breast badge, Officer (OBE) (Civil); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; 1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. The first medal unnamed, 5102 Pte J.C.Mullaly 2/A.S.C. A.I.F. on second medal, Lieut J.C.Mullaly. A.I.F. on third and fourth medals, VX108390 J.C.Mullaly on last four medals. All named medals impressed. Court mounted, first ribbon damaged and other ribbons toned, some medals with oxidation or toning, otherwise very fine.

It was reported in the August 1941 edition of Pacific Islands Monthly that the Hon. J.C.Mullaly, OBE, MLC, of Rabaul, New Guinea, arrived in Australia last month to take up special military duties. One of the most prominent public men in the Territory, Mr. Mullaly has been for many years President of the Planters' Association and is a Senior Non-Official Member of the Legislative and Executive Councils of New Guinea. A Victorian, he served in the 1914-18 war in the 3rd Light Horse and the 43rd Battalion. He went to NG in 1921 as audit inspector for the Expropriation Board; was a Native Affairs inspector in 1924; and the following year became a Magistrate in New Ireland. Since 1926 he has been engaged in planting.'
