GROUP OF ELEVEN: The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (type 2) Member (Civilian); Pacific Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45; Swedish Sports Shooting Association Medal; Australian Legion of Frontiersman Medal For Merit; Franco-British Association Cross of Honour, Officer; Poland WWII Freedom and Independence Cross with Crossed Swords emblem on ribbon; International Shooting Union Medal; unidentified blue enamel cross with eagle with outstretched wings in centre by Stokes. First medal unnamed, VX119275 P.R.Garrett on second to fifth medals, Peter R. Garret (sic) 1973 on sixth medal, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth medals unnamed, Peter R. Garrett on ninth and eleventh medals. The second to fifth medals impressed, all other named medals engraved. Fine - extremely fine.

1. Matching set of miniature medals for the last five medals as well as an unidentified red enamelled cross probably related to Temple of Jerusalem Order.
2. Chinese Marine Corps presentation medal in darkened bronze (77mm), reverse inscribed, 'Peter R. Garrett', in a fitted plush felt case marked in gold block on the lid with Chinese characters and 'Chinese Marine Corps', and on the satin lid lining, also with Chinese characters and the words, 'Presented By/Lieutenant General Huang Duan-Shien/Commandant, Chinese Marine Corps'.
3. Various shooting medals for Australia (2, [1] gilt and enamel medallion (71mm) for International Shooting Union - Thanks and Appreciation inscribed 'Peter R. 4. Award wall plaque in timber (15.2x25.7cm), with black metal plate at bottom inscribed, 'In Commemoration/Of 25 Years Of The/Sport Of Pistol Shooting/In Australia/1956 - 1981/P.R. Garrett M.B.E.'
5. Membership wall plaque in timber (15.1x20.3cm), with enamelled disc at top section for Amateur Pistol Shooting Union Australia, and at the lower section is a shaped metal plaque inscribed, 'The Amateur Pistol Shooting Union/Of Australia/Is Proud To Bestow/Honorary Life Membership Upon/"Peter Garrett"/For Meritorious & Long Standing/Service To The/Sport Of Pistol Shooting/In Australia'.
6. Large silver tray (diameter approx 31.5cm), marked on reverse, 'Paramount Reproduction Old Sheffield', the tray is ornately patterned and in the centre is inscribed, 'First Prize/A . P . S . U. of A.'Australian/Centre Fire/Championship/Hobart 11-1-58/P.R.Garrett/556'.
7. Parchment document signed by Elizabeth II for appointment of Peter Raymond Garrett Esquire to be an Ordinary Member of the Civil Division of Our said Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Awarded for 'Service to Shooting'.
8. Letter to Peter Garrett from the Hon Consul for Republic of Poland in Exile advising of the award of the Polish Cross of Freedom and Independence with Swords and also the actual Diploma named to Peter R. Garrett.
9. Certificate named to Peter Garrett for award of the Ordre Souverain et Militaire du Temple de Jerusalem Brevet to grade of Chevalier dated 20 March 1982.
10. Certificate named to Peter R. Garrett Esq. MBE OSJ for the Legion of Frontiersmen Australian Medal of Merit.
11. Certificate of Membership from the Australian Institute of Management certifying that Peter Raymond Garrett has been admitted as an Associate Fellow dated 29 September 1982.
Peter Raymond Garrett, carpenter, age 18, born at Hampton, Vic: Enl.31May1941 in Militia (V15357) as Sapper in Coastal Command, RAA (Fortress 60); Enl.05Sep1942 in 2AIF at Darwin, NT; incurred many disciplinary actions for sleeping on guard duty, disobeying orders and various other infractions; Emb.23May1945 for Moratai; WIA 26Jul1945 mortar and GSW to left knee and side, Borneo; Disch.19Dec1946 as Pte in 2/9 AIB with service in Darwin, 15Jul1942 to 29Mar1944 and Moratai and Borneo 23May1945 to 13Oct1945; Disability rating on discharge was 40 per cent.
Post WW2 Peter Garrett became an accomplished pistol shooter. He officiated at Olympics and Commonwealth Games and was chairman of the South Pacific Region of referees. He served on several shooting committees including the Organizing Committee of the 42nd World Shooting Championships in 1978 and for some years served on the Republic of China Olympic Committee. He was on the Administrative Council of the International Shooting Union and was bestowed with Life Membership of the Amateur Pistol Union of Australia. Peter Raymond Garrett died on 13 October 1987.
