NEW ZEALAND POLICE LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, by S.Kohn, (O&D.93) (1886-1900 type). No.162 1/C Con.P.Nolan.N.Z.P. Edge inscribed. Some hairlines and some dark spotting, otherwise extremely fine.

Ex Mowbray Collectables Numismatic Auction 25 (lot 186 part).^^Constable P.Nolan retired in 1906 and died in 1911.^^The following was reported on page 4 of the Evening Star, 20 December, 1911. Courtesy National Library of New Zealand - Papers Past.^^'The numerous friends of Mr Patrick Nolan, Cannington road, Maori Hill, will learn with great regret of his death, which occurred on the 17th inst., at the age of 70 years, after an illness of some months' duration. Mr Nolan was a native of Athy, County Kildare, Ireland, and received training and spent his early manhood in the Royal Irish Constabulary. Victoria attracted him, and he emigrated and engaged in gold mining for some time, subsequently serving in the Victorian police. He came to New Zealand to join the police force, where his character and thorough, knowledge of police duty soon procured him the charge of the stations at Clyde and Naseby. The last station of which he had charge was Woodhaugh, which he superintended for many years, leaving on superannuation. His generous and kindly disposition gained him a large circle of friends, who esteemed him very highly. He leaves a widow and grown-up family, with whom great sympathy is felt in their bereavement.'^^With a page of research.
