BAY OF PLENTY, 1924, stock medal in gold (15ct, 11.34g, 27mm), no maker, ring top suspension, obverse inscribed with stylised monogram 'AM', reverse inscribed 'Presented/To/Adolphus Montgomery/Life Member/1924/Bay of Plenty/Rugby Union'. Very fine.

When Adolphus Montgomery of Te Puke died in 1941 it was reported that he was well known in Cambridge where he had been the proprietor of the Central Hotel for several years. He had been a keen sportsman and was a prominent member of the Cambridge Bowling Club. He was a member of the first Te Puke Town Board and the chairman of same for many years. He was also government nominee on the Tauranga Harbour Board for several years. He was president of the Te Puke Racing Club and a life member of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union.
