Lot 2658    Day 2    Presentation Watches & Trophies

Estimate $160
Bid at live.noble.com.au

VESTA, presentation item in silver (hallmarked for Chester, 1900), maker W.F(? last letter unclear), ring suspension at one side, inscribed diagonally at bottom left corner 'H.D.Caplon/Hawera'. A few dents, otherwise very fine.

There was a person named H.D.Caplon who passed the Solicitors Law Examination in Contracts, Real and Personal Property and Equity at Christchurch University in 1907. There was also a law firm in Hawera called Caplen & Caplen (note different spelling), which restarted in 1913 when a newly qualified H.D.Caplen joined his lawyer father, Mr H.Caplen. Perhaps the first mentioned H.D. Caplon and the second H.D.Caplen are one and the same.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
