LAURISTON, full hunter pocket watch, by Thos Russell & Son, Liverpool, plain case in gold (9ct, tot wt incl workings 105g, 53mm), white porcelain dial, Roman numeral batons and black hands, subsidiary seconds dial with Arabic numerals and black hand, works' cover inscribed 'Presented/To/E. St C. Syme/By/Lauriston District/Friends/9.4.15'. Appears to be in working order, small dents on back, front lid needs polishing, otherwise good fine.

Mr Edwin St Clair Syme, born at Mount Somers in Canterbury, was a dairyman. In 1915 he left Lauriston on the Canterbury Plains and in 1918, at Newman, his agents held an unreserved sale of his stock and dairying implements. In 1926 he was operating a dairy farm at Patumahoe near Auckland. He died on 5 June 1954 at Auckland.
