MACEDON, Kingdom of, Perseus, (179-168 B.C.), AE 21, (8.79 g), Pella or Amphipolis Mint, obv. head of the hero Perseus to right, wearing a winged Phrygian helmet, harpa over far shoulder, rev. eagle with spread wings standing left on thunderbolt, B A across upper fields, E**R* monogram to left, star X below, (cf.S.6798, cf.SNG Alpha Bank 1137, cf.HGC 3.1, 1099). Attractively toned, nearly extremely fine and very rare.
