BOIOTIA, Thebes, (395-338 B.C.), silver stater (12.10 g), KLEES.. magistrate, issued 379-368 B.C., obv. Boiotian shield, rev. amphora in concave field, across field to left K**L* and to right EE*S*, (cf.S.2398, BCD 506 [Triton IX p.98, [This Coin], Head 'Boeotia' p.66, Hepworth B1 No.67 on list). Lightly toned, well centred, good very fine and rare.

Ex BCD Collection, bought from CNG Triton IX Auction sale, January 10, 2006 (lot 506). Hepworth believes from its rarity 21 to 50 examples known. Lot includes detailed collector's ticket and Triton ticket.
