AFC TRIO: Air Force Medal (EIIR); War Medal 1939-45; General Service Medal 1962-2007, - clasp - Borneo, with MID. 1893229 Sgt. P. B. Hawker. R.A.F. on first medal, second medal unnamed as issued, Flt.Lt. P.B.Hawker. R.A.F. on last medal. The named medals engraved. Swing mounted, a few hairlines, otherwise toned very fine.

Together with,^1) Matching set of swing mounted miniatures (the MID emblem included but unattached) and a pin-back riband bar, missing MID emblem. ^2) An unattached full-size Malay Peninsula clasp for last medal.^3) Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal with miniature and riband, all in case of issue together with a framed colour photo of the late Patrick Hawker's daughter being presented with the award by Brig. Gen. Othman Bin H. J. Jamal, Malaysian Defence Attache.^4) Two fibre compound dog tags, one circular and one octagonal, '1893229 Hawker P/Offr/RAF/ATH'.^5) Gilt embroidered Navigator badge with pin-back.^6) 60 Squadron Royal Air Force gilt and enamel badge (QC), pin-back.^7) 152 Squadron Royal Air Force gilt and enamel badge (QC), pin-back.^8) Flying Log Books for period 17/6/46 to 27/7/56, 1/11/56 to 15/5/64 and 15/5/64 to 11/11/67.^9) Book titled, 'Sixty Squadron 1916 Royal Flying Corps, Royal Air Force 1966, A History of Fifty Years Service', hard cover with dust jacket, 188pp, front blank page signed by P.B. Hawker, May 1967 - Hawker is recorded on p187 as serving as a Navigator in the Squadron between June 1959 and June 1961.^10) Parchment document by Queen Elizabeth II dated 29 June 1956 appointing Patrick Billy Hawker, A.F.M. as an Officer in the Royal Air Force.^11) Official document named to Flight Lieutenant P.B.Hawker, A.F.M., Royal Air Force as mentioned in a Despatch for distinguished service.^12) Two scrapbooks including family and personal photos as well as photos of various RAF groups including 60 Squadron in formation. ^AFM: Supplement to LG 2/1/1956, p35 - to 1893229 Patrick Billy Hawker, Royal Air Force.^MID: Supplement to LG 13/12/1966, p13466 - to Flight Lieutenant Patrick Billy Hawker (1893229) Royal Air Force in recognition of distinguished service in the Borneo Territories. ^Patrick Billy Hawker, nickname 'Laz' had a long and distinguished career in the Royal Air Force, primarily as a Navigator. His log books commence with a flight on an Avro Anson as a bomb aimer on 17 June 1946. The log records his training to become a navigator as well as a radio operator including flying on Ansons, Wellingtons and Mosquitos. In May 1949 he was attached to 202 Squadron at Aldergrove flying in a Halifax as part of operation Bismuth. Then followed service with 39 Squadron at RAF Fayidin Egypt, service in Nicosia and by 1951 he had accumulated 734 flying hours. He then acted as an instructor on Bristol Brigands and later flew in Meteors with 85 Squadron. He then served with 60 Squadron in Leeming and then Tengah in Meteors with 209 Squadron. When he left that squadron, Squadron Leader Crook noted, 'I have been most impressed with the very competent and loyal manner in which Fl.Lt. Hawker has always completed his duties on 209 Squadron. His consistent conscientiousness as an independent detachment commander on active service in Borneo and as the Squadron Deputy Navigation Leader has been most commendable.' His log books end with a flight on 11 November 1967 in a Wessex II. The total flying hours for his career being 3,116.86 hours in daylight and 580.7 at night. Flt Lt P.B. Hawker AFM retired at his own request on 15 March 1969.^With copies of London Gazettes.^See Lot 680 for wrist watch inscribed to Hawker.
