SYRIA, Kingdom of, Demetrius I, (162-150 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.836 grams), Antioch mint, issued year 156/155 B.C., obv. diademed head of Demetrius to right within laurel wreath border, rev. Tyche seated to left with leg of throne a winged monster, holds sceptre and cornucopiae, to right **BASILEWS, to left **DHMH TRIOU, and **SWTHROS, monogram to far of ATI, plain in exergue, (cf.S.7015, Newell SMA 100, BMC 23, SNG Israel I (Spaer) 1264, ACNAC Houghton 148). Slightly off centred on the obverse, large flan, good very fine, scarce.
