CLAUDIUS, (A.D. 41-54), AE as, Rome Mint, issued A.D. 41-42, (10.88 g), obv. bare head of Claudius to left, around TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG PM TR P IMP, rev. CONSTANTIAE AVGVSTI, Constantia standing to left, holding sceptre, SC across in field, (S.1857, RIC 95, BMC 140, C.14). Brown toning, very fine and scarce.

Ex Anthony "Tony" Taylor Collection.^CNG Auction 409, lot 557. Previously UBS 45 (15 September 1998), lot 780.^With an early 20th century Dutch collector's ticket, indicating it was purchased from Adolph E. Cahn, Frankfurt, 1929.
