CONVICT LOVE TOKEN, engraved on a George III penny shaved smooth on both sides, on one side is stipple engraved with a half-kneeling man within a floral wreath and the words, "Commence 1840 April 10" and on the other side, (difficult to read but appears to be) "My/Dear pet/sister for/me now ???/are fair/amiay (?)/G". Fine.
George Williams, aged 22, sailor, sentenced to 10 years in the colonies for stealing a watch. Arrived in Van Diemen's Land on 6 August 1840. With basic research.
