YORKSHIRE, Sheffield, Younge Wilson & Younge, gold 10 shillings and sixpence or half-a-guinea, 1812, by Halliday, phoenix/legend (D.37). Nearly extremely fine and very rare.

Ex W.J. Noble Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 58 (lot 1827) and previously from W.G. Wright Collection with ticket and original envelope (purchased by him from Spink & Son, London, 10th March 1949 for fifty seven pounds ten shillings). A Specimen in the Hamer Sale in 1930 made fourteen pounds. The issue was probably very small and soon met a quick fate when they were prohibited shortly after issue. Fewer than ten examples survive today.
