THRACE, Odessus, Severus Alexander, (A.D. 222-235), AE 25, (8.782 grams), obv. Severus Alexander bust to right draped and cuirassed, around M AV P A**LE XAND*POC, rev. Serapis with modius standing to left holding patera and cornucopiae, altar before, around O**DH*CC EIT**W*N, (S.-, BMC 17 [P.139]). Some porosity, otherwise very fine and rare.

Ex Lord Grantley Collection with ticket (from A.H. Baldwin & Sons) and from Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, sold in Triton III (lot 1662 part) for the benefit of the Classical Department of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
