ATTICA, Aegina, (525/20-500 B.C.), silver stater, (11.986 grams), obv. smoothed shell sea turtle without row of dots down dorsal spine, countermarked with punch of a horse, rev. small incuse square, of 'Union Jack pattern' design with five sunken triangle compartments, (S.1858, Asyut Group III-IV, 'Small skew' cf.464, SNG Delepierre 1512, SNG Cop. 501, cf.Selinus hoard 99-100). Off centred obverse and reverse punches, dumpy flan, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.
