EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy I, (323-283 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, issued 305-283 B.C., (13.926 grams), Alexandria mint, issued 281-280 B.C., obv. diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, with aegis, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, in front P over monogram **DM*, around **BASILEWS [PTOLEMAIOU]*, (S.7762, Sv. 257, SNG Cop. -). Has been damaged with various banker's marks and graffiti otherwise fine and a scarce variant.
