OCTAVIAN, (36 B.C.), silver denarius, mint moving with Octavian, (3.80 g), obv. bare head of Octavian bearded to right, IMP CAESAR DIVI F III VIR ITER R P C around, rev. around [COS ITER ET] TER DESIG, Julius Caesar in temple of four columns, frontal inscribed DIVO IVL, altar on left, off centre on reverse, (S.1545, C.540/2, Syd 1338, BMC Africa 33, RSC Julia 139). Nearly very fine, rare.

Ex Dr V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 107 (lot 3658) and also coming from an old Hungarian collection. Formerly of C. Pitchfork Collection and acquired from B.A.Seaby, London, March 4, 1989.
