GALBA, (A.D. 68-69), silver denarius, issued July - October 68, uncertain mint, possibly Tarraco, (3.42 grams), obv. laureate head to right of Galba, small globe at point of bust, around [SER GALBA] IMPERATOR, rev. around SALVS GENE HVMANI, female figure (Salus?) standing left, right foot on globe, sacrificing out of patera in right hand over lighted altar, holding rudder in left hand, (cf.S.2108, cf.BMC 230, RIC 207, cf.RSC 234). Dark cabinet toning, struck off centre on obverse and reverse, nearly very fine and rare.

BMC notes that the standard obverse legend reads SER GALBA IMP, but only rarely does the full title IMPERATOR appear.
