LOCRI OPUNTII AND EPIKNEMIDIA, (369-338 B.C.), silver stater, (11.764 grams), obv. head of Persephone to left, wreath with corn, wearing ear-ring, rev. Ajax son of Oileus, naked but for helmet, advancing to right, holding sword and large shield, decorated with serpent, broken spear on ground, olive branch on ground, around **OPONTIWN*, (cf.S.2326, BMC 30 [Pl.I, 10]). Light attractive tone, very fine and rare.
