L. CASSIUS Q.F. Longinus, (c.78 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.850 grams), obv. head of Liber or Bacchus to right, thyrsus over shoulder, rev. head of Libera to left, L. CASSI Q.F behind, (S.317 [£125 VF], Cr.386/1, Syd.779, B. Cassia 6). With flaw on reverse on head, otherwise very fine and rare.

The type refers to Spurius Cassius who in B.C. 493 erected a temple dedicated to Ceres and these two divinities near to the Circus Maximus. Crawford calculates 32 obverse dies used by this moneyer in his coinage.
